According to recent leaks, Sony’s upcoming Xperia 1 VI is expected to feature slight changes in dimensions compared to its predecessor, the Xperia 1 V. It is rumored that eliminating the 4K display and adopting a 19.5:9 aspect ratio will lead to changes in the size of the phone.
The Xperia 1 VI’s claimed dimensions are 162 x 74.4 x 8.45 mm, which is 3 mm shorter and slightly wider than the Xperia 1 V’s 165 x 71 x 8.3 mm.
Despite the reduction in vertical space, Sony is speculated to retain its traditional design of top and bottom bezels. This decision ensures that features like the stereo speakers and front-facing camera are retained, which sit within the bezels rather than being integrated into the screen.
Regarding the display, the leaked information suggests that the screen will measure 149.6 x 69.4 mm, with an aspect ratio of 19.4:9 and a diagonal size of 6.49 inches.
The Xperia 1 VI is expected to be officially unveiled in May. Previous leaks hinted at potential changes in RAM configurations, with 12GB and 16GB options.
Additionally, other models have been mentioned, such as the Xperia 5 VI with 8GB of RAM and the Xperia 10 VI with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, although it’s currently unclear whether these models will also debut alongside the Xperia 1 VI in May.
