- The Walt Disney Company has announced the launch of “Hulu on Disney Plus,” available to all U.S. Disney bundle subscribers.
- The merger brings all Hulu content to the Disney Plus app, so users don’t have to switch apps to find the shows/movies they’re looking for.
- The company said standalone Disney Plus/Hulu subscribers can choose to upgrade to the bundle for an additional $2 per month.
Today (March 27), we’re announcing that Disney Bundle subscribers in the U.S. will now be able to find it with the launch of “Hulu on Disney Plus.”
According to a press release, Hulu on Disney Plus combines the streaming content libraries of both platforms into one place. The company said subscribers will start noticing Hulu titles, recommendations, episodes and collections on Disney Plus without having to switch apps. Disney hopes this will lead to a more customizable and personalized experience for users watching content on its platform.
In addition, independent Disney Plus subscribers will find Hulu content through “up-sell options” on multiple devices. This means users will find a “convenient” way to upgrade their plans to the Disney Bundle, starting at $2 per month more.
The post reiterates that Disney Bundle plans start at $9.99 per month. It’s worth mentioning that nothing has changed with Disney’s Hulu; the two services are still available separately if consumers choose.
Disney urges users to create profiles for those who will be watching and to check their settings to ensure they find the content they care about most.
Joe Earley, President of Direct-to-Consumer Business at Disney Entertainment, said:[the] The official launch of Hulu on Disney+ gives viewers more opportunities to easily discover and enjoy thousands of titles in one place, highlighting the exceptional value of Disney Bundles. “
Meanwhile, Disney+ is launching a new campaign to mark the addition of Hulu, starting with a brand new logo. The launch will include a new Disney Plus intro palette that mixes Hulu’s green with the former’s traditional blue, the company said.
In addition, the orchestral mnemonics (the sounds in the animation) have been redesigned by Academy Award-winning composer Ludwig Göransson.
Disney is also creating additional activity through social media platforms, digital advertising during broadcasts, and on-site locations at the Disneyland Resort.
Disney Plus and Hulu have been testing the merger since November, and today’s launch makes it official. Users should start noticing Hulu content being available on the Disney Plus app, with the option to upgrade to bundles over time.
