Blackbird Interactive takes demo user feedback seriously
Homeworld 3 is now set to launch on May 7, roughly two months after its initial launch, but in this case, players may not be too upset for that reason. One of the biggest complaints from people who played the demo centered around the controls, and given that this is the largest part of the game, it’s clear something needs to be done. The biggest changes are the ability to remap any and all keybindings, something that should have always been there, and increased camera movement and rotation speeds to make gameplay smoother. If you’re familiar with Homeworld 2 Remastered’s controls and feedback, the legacy control system will now match that look, so you can easily get back to what’s familiar.
The combat system has also been reworked a bit, with Homeworld 3 now supporting giving your ship fire commands that don’t follow its flight direction, something you couldn’t do in the demo. They’ve also increased the efficiency of formations to encourage their use, and increased ship health by 30% to give you a chance to see what’s going on.
