- The Pixel Watch 3 appears to have received battery certification, with its listing detailing a small increase in capacity.
- Watch 3 may come with a slightly larger 307mAh battery.
- Details highlight that the battery is almost identical to the Pixel Watch 2, which offers a 306mAh battery, and we likely won’t get a massive battery life enhancement.
A new rumor suggests that Google may improve the battery life of the Pixel Watch 3 later this year.
According to 91Mobiles, the Pixel Watch 3 has appeared on Safety Korea and Dekra websites for certification. According to the listing, Pixel Watch 3 has been submitted for certification and the battery model is G1QME. Both databases indicate that it has a capacity of 307mAh and is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
There’s no information listed about its charger or charging speed.
For context, the original Pixel Watch came with a 294mAh battery, and the Pixel Watch 2 later bumped up the battery capacity to 306mAh. Both devices can last a day on a full charge, especially when users use AOD (always on). display) is enabled.
Google has been improving its smartwatch batteries, but the latest leak shows the battery is nearly identical to last year’s.
What’s more, the company says users can expect the Watch 2 to charge to 50% in 30 minutes, and to a full charge in about an hour. Our review of the device showed that the estimate was largely correct, which helps make up for the device’s short battery life.
Elsewhere, previous rumors suggested that the Pixel Watch 3 might ditch the rotating crown and adopt a digital bezel. The information comes from a patent filed by Google in November 2023, which shows that users can “slide” or “squeeze” the digital bezel to change what happens on the Watch 3.
Diagrams from the patent show that this would help users seamlessly increase or decrease media volume, pause songs, or turn on notifications.
Another report speculates that the Pixel Watch 3 could also be available in a second size – one of the biggest issues with the series. Rumors suggest that the device may launch in a 45mm variant later this year to complement the smaller 41mm device.
