8 of the strangest cave systems on Earth

Speaking of clichés, yes. I included the deepest caves in the world on this list. But can you blame me? Part of the wonder (and, indeed, the horror) of the world’s subterranean spaces lies in their depth.

Veryovkina Cave is located in Abkhazia, an internationally recognized part of Georgia. The cave is more than 7,200 feet deep; the image above shows the cave’s largest shaft. It takes nearly a week to walk from the cave to the bottom and back again. Refer to the picture below to see how maze-like the tunnels at the bottom of the mountain have become.
