Samsung Care+ will offer unlimited battery repairs starting in May

Samsung’s Care+ protection plan in the United States will offer unlimited battery repair services starting in May. This will be bundled into the benefits of Care+ and Care+ with theft and loss tiers.

However, there are two caveats to remember. First, this will make both plans $2 more expensive per month. Second, and perhaps most importantly, you are only eligible for battery repair if your device’s battery health is 79% or lower (“as shown by diagnostic tests”). Oh, and there must also be “no additional damage to the covered equipment.” In a notification sent to current subscribers, Samsung said the repair option will be available via in-home repair or mail-in repair.

Monthly prices for Samsung Care+ and Samsung Care+ with theft and loss coverage vary by device, currently ranging from around $8 per month to around $18 per month (with a three-year contract). Starting in May, that number will jump to around $10 to $20 per month.

Care+ covers unlimited repairs, drops and spills, mechanical failure after the first year, and $29 screen repairs. It offers next-business-day replacement, 24/7 expert support, convenient mail-in repairs and replacements, and of course you can rest assured that Samsung-certified technicians use genuine Samsung parts.

As the name suggests, for an additional fee, Care+ Theft and Loss also covers – you guessed it – theft and loss of your device. This only works on phones, tablets and watches, while the “vanilla” Care+ is also compatible with Samsung computers and true wireless headphones.
