In the wake of the Dally’s incident with Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, a racist cartoon depicting the ship’s Indian crew surfaced and sparked outrage.
American webcomics foxford comics A day after the incident, X shared a cartoon on X with the caption: “Last known recording inside Dali before impact.”
The cartoon shows some men on board wearing only loincloths panicking before an apparent accident. The inappropriate depiction of Indians angered netizens, who lashed out at the creators of the comic.
The photo, apparently generated by artificial intelligence, features the sound of a man cursing in a thick Indian accent.
“Saw this pathetic racist cartoon mocking the Indian crew of the ship that crashed the Baltimore Bridge. The crew were hailed as heroes, what makes the cartoonist find this funny?” one user wrote on X.
“This is a racist caricature of the 22 Indian crew members of the #Baltimore bridge-hit ship. The illustration shows unkempt men wearing only loincloths, preparing for an impending accident. How could the world have become so unkind? This is so Sad,” another user wrote.
