- Samsung said that starting in May, users who purchase the Theft and Loss plan and the standard Care Plus plan will be charged an additional $2 to support unlimited repair services.
Samsung’s Care Plus team has started notifying users of the upcoming unlimited battery repair service for eligible devices and certain plans.
An email received by Android Authority reveals that Samsung Care Plus plans to launch unlimited battery repair support in May. The email states that users who purchase Samsung Care Plus or the standard Care Plus plan with loss and theft protection are eligible for unlimited battery repairs.
What’s more, your device is only eligible for battery reconditioning if it’s below 79% of charge capacity. Samsung says this can be confirmed with a diagnostic check, and if it falls below that line, your battery will be replaced. Of course, Samsung will only perform repairs within the valid warranty period.
Speaking of which, the email adds that users can mail their devices or walk into a Samsung store for battery repair. The company adds that as long as there’s no “additional damage,” your device will still be eligible for battery repair as part of your plan.
Samsung says consumers will pay an extra $2 per month as this new support begins in May. Your selected payment method will be charged on May 1, 2024 as a “confirmation that you accept these changes and wish to proceed”.
With Samsung expanding its partnership with Batteries Plus in October last year, door-to-door battery repair services have gained popularity. The expansion will convert 35 stores in the United States into Samsung Authorized Service Centers. This allows consumers to go in and talk to a Galaxy device professional to get a deeper understanding of the issue with their device. Additionally, the partnership includes support for foldable device repairs.
But the email informing users of the infinite battery fix is closely tied to the returning One UI feature. One UI 6.1 brings back the “Since last charge” screen, giving users more insight into which apps are draining power and how much battery time is left. The “Today” page remains, allowing users to check in and see how the app affects their daily battery.
