In September 2021, Insomniac announced Spider-Man 2, but they had a trick up their sleeves. At the same time, they also announced that they are developing a Wolverine video game. Given the critical acclaim of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, it’s easy to see how expectations for a good, fun Wolverine hack-and-slash style game were building. So far, the game seems to be targeting a 2025 release exclusively on PlayStation 5.

The game was just announced at The Game Awards as Arkane Lyon’s latest project. Arkane Lyon released their last game, Deathloop, in 2021 to critical acclaim. Before launching Deathloop, the studio gained attention in the 2010s with the Dishonored series. Given their impressive track record over the past decade, it will be interesting to see what Arkane Lyon thinks of the Blade video game.

Everything we know about Redfall: trailer, story, gameplay and more

Arkane’s next game looks like it’ll be a good time killing vampires.

If nothing else, it might be a better foray into vampire gaming than Arkane Austin’s Redfall. Unlike Arkane Lyon’s previous games, Blade will be a third-person game. No platforms for the game have been announced yet, but considering Microsoft’s ownership of Bethesda Softworks, it’s safe to assume that Marvel’s Blade will be an Xbox and PC exclusive.

3 Marvel’s Iron Man

Single-player action-adventure game, no release date set yet

Last September, EA revealed that Motive Studio was developing a single-player action-adventure Iron Man game. In January of this year, Motive Studio’s Dead Space Remastered released to rave reviews. One month after the release of “Dead Space Remastered,” Marvel’s “Iron Man” enters full production. Motive Studio also developed Star Wars Squadrons, with Olivier Proulx joining Marvel’s Iron Man as an executive producer. Proulx previously worked on Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” at Eidos-Montréal.

This is a remake of the highest order.

While the game’s release was marred by the lackluster release of Marvel’s Avengers the previous year, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a really great game. Marvel’s Iron Man will be the first of several new games from Marvel and EA.

Another pre-ordered game from Marvel and EA is the Black Panther game. There’s no official game yet, but it’s being developed by new studio Cliffhanger Games. The game was officially announced back in July, but not much is known about it. Kevin Stephens, head of newly formed Cliffhanger Games, said of the game, “Our mission is to develop a game for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda like we do. An epic world.”

The team working on the Black Panther game at Cliffhanger Games is said to be made up of industry veterans who have worked on games like Halo, Call of Duty, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and God of War.

5 Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

WWII game coming in 2025

Our next upcoming Marvel game is a game set during World War II and centered around a cast of playable characters. Most notably, Amy Hennig teamed up with emerging studio Skydance New Media to develop the game. Hennig is best known for his roles as creative director and writer on the first three Uncharted games.

Details are still scarce, but we do know that the game will be set in World War II, and players will be able to play as Steve Rogers’ Captain America, Howling Commando’s Gabriel Jones, Wakandan spy Nunnally, and Black Panthers cycle through each other. However, given the setting of the game, the Black Panther appearing in this game will not be T’Challa, but his grandfather Azuri.

6 Marvel Rivals

Heroes will clash

Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals

Unlike the other games listed, Marvel Rivals will be a multiplayer-focused hero shooter, similar to Overwatch, that will only run on PC. What’s unique about this game is the third-person perspective, which allows you to see your hero as you play.

The match pits teams of six against each other in a variety of game modes and maps, such as Escort and King of the Hill. There will be over a dozen heroes at launch, but more will be added over time.

round up

While the six games listed above are all confirmed, there is still at least one EA-published Marvel game that has yet to be announced. Additionally, the Insomniac hack suggests that in addition to the Wolverine game, three more Marvel games may be coming over the next six years. No matter how you look at it, there’s a lot to look forward to in the Marvel gaming space over the next few years.
