A set photo from Disney’s Daredevil essentially confirms Jon Bernthal is returning as the Punisher, even if no one admits it

No one will admit it, but a recently shared set photo basically confirms that we’ll be seeing Jon Bernthal play the Punisher again in The Punisher . Daredevil: Rebirth.

Fans have been awaiting the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, ever since he was introduced in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The beloved character is set to return, expected to return sometime in 2025, though there have been some creative hiccups along the way – a major creative shakeup last September and filming restarted earlier this year. Of course, we know Cox is returning as Daredevil, but many fans have been hoping that Bernthal would also return as Frank Castle, best known for his antihero role as The Punisher. Be known. Recent photos with fans seem to confirm that he is indeed back.

As you can see in the above photo of Bernthal with a fan, he’s looking a little badly dressed, but we can pretty safely assume it’s just makeup unless the actor suddenly starts resorting to method acting (thanks, Collider). This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Bernthal’s involvement in the series, either – Marvel seems keen to keep the official cast list low-key, but a report from The Hollywood Reporter last year did claim that he had joined the Disney+ series. There has been no official word on the matter since, but there’s still plenty of speculation.

Things are looking pretty quiet this year for the Marvel Universe, though, as the only upcoming blockbuster this year is Deadpool vs. Wolverine , which the director of X-Men: First Class believes will be the first of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. The “shock” the universe needs. Whether or not this works out, and whether Bernthal does end up appearing in Daredevil, we’ll just have to wait and see.
