Analyst Jeff Pu (MacRumors reporting) said that Apple AirPods experienced a quiet year in 2023, but things may heat up this year.
Pu claimed that Apple plans to launch cheaper AirPods later this year, which matches previous reports from reliable Apple forecaster Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Apple AirPods expected to be cheaper in 2024
More specifically, Gurman said last month that Apple is developing two fourth-generation AirPods models that will be released in the second half of this year. One is an entry-level model and the other is a “mid-level” model. Both models come with better sound quality, a redesigned fit, and a USB-C charging case. Gurman also said the mid-range version will come with active noise cancellation, a feature found on the base model of AirPods seriously It takes years.
Oh, and apparently we’re also getting new AirPods Max models at the end of the year. However, Gurman says you should really only expect a USB-C port and a new color for that port. Let’s pray for lower prices.

Apple’s headphone product line is in desperate need of a shakeup. Your current options include the $130 AirPods 2 from 2019 and the $180 AirPods 3 from 2022, both of which could theoretically be replaced by the two new models. It would be nice if Apple could find a way to retire those lackluster older models while lowering the price of the new ones a bit.

All of which is a good reminder that the $200 Beats Fit Pro might actually be the best wireless headphones Apple has ever made.
