Google has just issued a final reminder that Dropcam and Dropcam Pro cameras and the Nest Secure home security system will stop working next Monday (April 8). Google first announced the news a year ago, launching a redesigned Home app a month later.
Dropcam and Dropcam Pro, launched in 2012 and 2013 respectively, will fail to connect to the Nest app and stop recording video. Video history will still be available after April 8, but the length of time depends on your individual Nest Aware subscription version and level, ranging from 5 to 60 days.
Current users should also check their email for an offer on indoor wired Nest Cams, which expires on May 7, 2024. But perhaps most importantly, users should note that their current Nest Aware subscription will not be automatically canceled. Cancellation requests must be made through home.nest.com, but if your subscription covers other devices in your home, those devices will still work, so you may not want to cancel.
The Nest Secure security system will also stop working. Eligible users should have received an email from ADT for a quote for a self-install system (up to $475) or spend $200 in the Google Store. This offer expires on May 7, 2024.
The bottom line for Nest Secure users with Nest x Yale Locks: When support goes offline on April 8, the Nest Guard Keyboard will no longer be available Ability to bridge your lock to Wi-Fi, so you’ll need Get Nest Connect. Those who haven’t should have received an email to get it for free. If you can’t connect to your Nest Secure before it goes offline, you can get help here. If you set a password, you can still use it to get in. Users who have not set a password must set one before the April 8 deadline.
