long story short

  • There aren’t any new updates for Phone 2 yet.
  • This update adds the ability to apply only the Nothing icon pack to your home screen.
  • The update also includes April’s Android security patch.

The Nothing Phone 2a has received a lot of attention since its launch, receiving three updates in the same month. While it’s great to see the company giving its latest phone the support it deserves, it’s no surprise that some Phone 2 owners feel a bit ignored. The brand is currently rolling out an update for the Phone 2, but it looks like the update is leaving users wanting more.

On X (formerly Twitter), nothing Announce It has started releasing Nothing OS 2.5.3 for Phone 2. The update makes some performance improvements, adds a new option, and delivers Android’s April security patch. You can view the full changelog below.

  • Added option to apply “Nothing Icon Pack” only to the home screen for better access to the app drawer.
  • Improved icon organization on the home screen by allowing users to scroll while holding down an app icon.
  • Resolved connection issues with car Bluetooth media players.
  • Optimized the animation in some scenes to make the transition smoother.
  • Update Android security patches to April 2024.
  • Improved system stability to enhance overall performance.

The London-based company said the update will roll out this week. Therefore, users should see the update arriving on their devices soon.

Despite the announcement, the community doesn’t seem too pleased. Some reviewers noted that the update didn’t address camera quality issues, fix HDR controls, or give the Phone 2 features that the Phone 2a had, such as the ring mode tile or voice recorder widget.
