This movie has a lot going for it: a post-apocalyptic setting, ultra-violence with fists and bullets (etc.), and a deaf hero whose inner voice sounds a lot like Bob Bob’s Burgers (Because it is: H. Jon Benjamin’s world-weary flute for victory). Check out Soft’s new trailer:
And, according to the official description, there are ghosts among them? Skarsgard plays “The Boy,” who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Vanderkoy (Famke Janssen). Hilda Vanderkoy is the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that leaves boys orphaned, deaf and mute. Driven by an inner voice chosen by a boy from his favorite childhood video game, he trains with a mysterious shaman (Yayan Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and… was released on the eve of the annual massacre of dissidents. Chaos ensues as the boy enacts bloody martial arts mayhem, triggering a fury of carnage and bloodshed. The boy quickly becomes entangled with the desperate resistance as he tries to find his way in this insane realm, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious sister.
The rest of the cast includes Jessica Lord, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, Andrew Koji and Sharlto Copley; one of the producers is Sam Raimi, he knows a thing or two about splash sticks. Boys Kill the World is directed by Moritz Mohr and written by Tyler Burton Smith and Arend Remmers.
