South Carolina (WACH) — The Biden administration is calling on congressional Republicans to expand funding for high-speed internet access.
According to the White House, more than 415,000 households in South Carolina may have limited or lost access.
The Biden administration says these households are saving on internet bills through the Affordable Connectivity Plan.
The program was launched in November 2021, when more than $14 billion was earmarked for internet access through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The White House called on Congress to extend funding for the program.
To date, South Carolina has received $243,670,756 in funding through this program.
