Fake Gunnar Gundy X account tricked the internet

It’s time for an important reminder to always keep your head on a swivel when it comes to dealing with the internet.

People on X are currently fired up because an account appearing to belong to Mike Gundy’s son and former Oklahoma State QB Gunnar Gundy fired a shot at pole vaulter Sarah Stair.

It appeared like Gunnar was teasing a return to Stillwater after jumping in the transfer portal. There’s just one major problem.

It’s not real. Not even a little bit.

Fake Gunnar Gundy X account savagely fools the internet.

Despite being complete nonsense, the tweet has been seen more than six million times, and multiple sites have fallen for it.

It’s all in the game, and sometimes, the game is just too good.

You see, fair is fair. I’ve been obsessed with fakes before. The AI is amazing and some of the tweets are just so perfectly crafted. However, now more than ever, people need to know that nothing is real at first glance.

The internet is downright sinister, and whoever ran this fake account has somehow deceived millions of people and major news outlets.

You just hate seeing it.

Also, I had no idea who Sarah Steele was before this morning. Finding out she helped trigger a massive scam isn’t the most shocking development.

I sense a star is brewing!

Keep it cool, gentlemen. This fake tweet attracted a lot of good people.Don’t become another statistic, let me know what you think David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
