Galaxy S23 Ultra unresponsive display issue: Why Samsung blames Google

Some Samsung Galaxy S23 users the problem we are facing Samsung has been using the new update on their phones since it released it last week.

The One UI 6.1 update appeared to be rolling out to newer Samsung Galaxy S24 models earlier this year. However, once this AI-laden update rolled out on older devices on March 28, users started experiencing issues with the touchscreen display becoming unresponsive.

Samsung has now responded to the issue and provided background information on the cause of the problem. The company has also released a temporary fix for the touchscreen issue and will roll out an update to address the issue soon.

Samsung blames Google

As some have speculated, the issue does not appear to be related to the new AI-centric features in the One UI 6.1 update. According to Samsung, the cause of the touchscreen issues is Google’s customized news feature, Google Discover. Samsung said Google is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it.

How to solve this problem

Samsung has also provided a temporary solution for Galaxy users facing touchscreen issues due to the Google Discover error. The company said users need to download the latest version of the Google app, then delete the app’s data and finally restart the device.

The issue should be resolved, however, opening Google apps may cause touch screen issues again. If this is the case, the user must redo these steps.

Galaxy users who are experiencing this issue can update the app by searching for the app in the Google Play Store and clicking “Update”. Once the app is updated, go to the Settings option on Android, select Apps, and open the Google app. On that menu, click “Storage,” then click the “Delete Data” dustpan icon. Next, restart your device.

This should temporarily resolve touchscreen issues for Samsung Galaxy S23 owners, at least until a full fix rolls out.
