WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A northwest-based internet company has announced a new internet option for Whatcom County residents.
Ziply Fiber, which provides internet service to northwest states, announced that customers in Laurel and Custer can begin signing up for their fiber plans.
Ziply spokesman Dan Miller said new fiber optic lines are being built in both areas. The company has been installing and replacing older DSL lines in most of Whatcom County, with the exception of Bellingham and much of Lummi Country.
Miller said the franchise agreement between Ziply and Frontier Communications only allows them to install fiber optic lines in areas previously served by Frontier.
Parts of Everson, Bryan, Birch Bay and Ferndale will also see the expansion of Ziply service in the near future.
