Without recently revealing what it will announce on April 18, today the company lets us know exactly what we can expect: Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a).
These are not spelling errors, we are not talking about Nothing Ear (3). Ahead of this launch, the company decided to reset its naming scheme and get rid of the numbers it has used to emphasize each generation of its products until now. Nothing says that by ditching numbers, it can “focus on the product and the unique experience it provides each user.”
We started Nothing with Audio in 2021, and since launching our first product, we’ve continued to refine our design and engineering with every new feature we add to our suite of audio products.

In a few years, this will likely become confusing, and if we don’t understand it correctly, we may have several generations of headphones called “Nothing Ear.” Maybe we have to use the year of release to understand them, as is sometimes the case with Apple products.
Anyway, Nothing Ear (3) is no longer Nothing Ear (3), it’s just the new Nothing Ear. Joining this pair of high-end earbuds is the Nothing Ear (a), which will likely complement the Nothing Phone (2a) in the company’s portfolio as a more affordable option.
There is nothing that promises “excellent service for everyone, it has nothing to do with market prices but everything to do with user preferences.” We look forward to seeing what Ears and Ears(a) will bring in a few weeks. Stay tuned for our reviews of both.
