long story short

  • OpenAI’s DALL-E received two new features today.
  • AI image generator now comes with editing tools.
  • Users will also receive style suggestions similar to presets.

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out the right prompts to let OpenAI’s DALL-E create the exact image you’re looking for. But the AI-powered image generator from the creators of ChatGPT is getting new editing-focused features that should help in that regard.

OpenAI announced that DALL-E is getting a slew of new features today. The first introduces editing tools that are available on the web and mobile devices when using DALL-E in ChatGPT. When the user clicks on the generated image, an edit icon will appear. They will then be able to highlight an area in the image and provide hints. In the example tweet below, the user highlighted the poodle’s ears and prompted DALL-E to add a bow.

The second update to DALL-E is preset-like style suggestions. These suggestions will allow the AI to generate images in different art styles, such as woodcut, synthwave, sci-fi or gothic. If you need some help solving some problems, these suggestions seem like a good starting point.

The combination of these two features should make creating images easier for those of us who aren’t exactly prompt gurus. However, you still need to know what to add or remove from the image.
