State Representative Paul Jacobs congratulated Marion-based ProTek Fiber, a leading high-speed internet provider, for receiving a $51 million grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Rep. Jacobs, who represents parts of Williamson, Jackson, Pulaski, Union and Alexander counties, said the grant will support the expansion of fiber optic internet infrastructure in underserved areas of southern Illinois.
He continued: “I am proud to write a letter of support on behalf of ProTek Fiber as they seek this important grant funding. We must continue to work on closing the gaps created by the digital divide and build for the future of networking and technology Construction. Do the math right here in southern Illinois.”
Jacobs said the funding will meet the growing need to connect rural areas with more business, education and economic opportunities.
