The pig was wanted for wild boar meals.
A video of a Utah police officer dousing a fleeing pig has gone viral.
According to Fox 13, police in Grantsville, about 30 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, received multiple complaints over the past week about three piglets causing havoc in the community after breaking free.
Officer Corey Cooper told the outlet the feral pigs were “running around town, getting into people’s yards, through their gardens, through their animal paddocks and so on.”
Cooper and several other police officers responded to a sighting this week and attempted to capture the elusive animals — and hilarity ensues.
The video released by the department appears to show Cooper chasing the slippery pig on the front lawn with the “Benny Hill” theme song playing in the background.
He laughed several times in the driveway as he made a last-ditch effort to swoop down and grab the pig as the female photographer giggled. He then walked away with the screaming suspect in custody in his arms, the video shows.
Cooper said he has chased pigs throughout his life and this time was no exception.
“It’s an all-hands-on-deck approach because when you’re dealing with an animal that has a mind of its own, you obviously can’t communicate… Their instinct is fight or flight, and most of the time they will running, and then they were “pretty fast,” he told Fox 13.
Cooper said he suffered some scratches during the fall but was otherwise fine.
Police said all the pigs were captured and will be taken to rescue because their owners never came forward.
