As you probably know, one of the many themes of the Fallout series is that flooding the world with tons of huge corporations sucking up resources at an unsustainable rate in pursuit of endless growth is, well, probably not going to end well. Clearly, this is something the creators of the Fallout TV show were keen to capture, even though the series is being released exclusively through Amazon’s streaming service.
To be fair, it sounds like the show’s creators are well aware of the dissonance that comes with projecting the “uncontrolled corporations are bad” message across the airwaves of a company that continues to expand to the point where interacting with it is essentially inevitable level time.

Showrunner Graham Wagner spoke with TheGamer about how the show’s creators are approaching the issue. “For us, that’s part of the appeal, and the absurdity,” he explains, “that we get to tell a story about a world that made a big bet on a big business and then it collapsed and put it Put it on Amazon, it’s too delicious for us.” Words. ”
Key to their concept was a desire to tap into the irony of reality while still striving to give the show a game-like feel that Wagner describes as “peak ’90s, ad-busting, anti-corporate energy.” While I certainly don’t envy the position the show’s creators are in when it comes to being the first to try and bring Fallout to a different screen, and there’s a good chance it could deliver all the anti-corporate satire we could hope for, many of the media’s The ending does seem a bit sad.
There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the irony of situations like this, and maybe that’s the healthiest way to look at things, especially considering that most of the games and shows we love are sold to us by some kind of company anyway. Still, the whole thing does reflect the fact that we often feel like real-life corporations control much of the world around us and regularly select our favorites to further those goals, and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Anyway, sorry, you’re not here to do a Noam Chomsky impression, and as I said, this show will most likely come at the expense of companies like Vault-Tec and Nuka-Cola to deliver heavy-handed jokes. What we all want.
