Using your iPad as a second screen for your Mac is a great way to increase your productivity. For example, if you’re editing a movie, you can view the content in full screen on your Mac and use your iPad for the editing panel.Or you can use apple pencil features on your iPad and use your Mac to showcase your work.
Sidecar allows you to extend your Mac’s display by: 1) using different apps on both devices, 2) using the same app on both monitors, or 3) mirroring the screen for viewing on both iPad and Mac Exactly the same content.
Note that using Sidecar requires at least macOS 10.15 or later and iPadOS 13 or later.
Setting up Sidecar is very easy.only Make sure you’re logged in with the same Apple ID on both Mac and iPad. Then, Connect two devices together. You can do this via a wireless or wired connection. For the former, turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on iPad and Mac. The devices need to be within Bluetooth range of each other, which is approximately 33 feet or 10 meters. Use any USB cable that can connect two devices for a wired connection.
This last step may look a little different for users using different versions of macOS.What if you are On macOS 13, go to Apple Menu > System Settings > Display > click the little plus icon on the right > select your iPad from the list titled “Mirror or extend to.”
MacOS 10.15 to 12.5 users will go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Displays > Add Display > select their iPad from the list titled “Mirror or extend to.”
Once you’re done using this dual-screen setup, you can disconnect using the following command one of these two ways. On your iPad, click the Disconnect icon at the bottom of the sidebar. Or on a Mac, go to Control Center > Display in the menu > deselect your iPad from the “Mirror or extend to” list.
