Save $150: As of April 8, you can get the 13.6-inch MacBook Air (M2, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) at Amazon and Best Buy for a new low of just $849, a savings of 15% off the $999 MSRP.
One of the best ways to buy a MacBook (or any laptop) is to stick with the older generation.
Case in point: The 2022 M2 MacBook Air is only $849 on Amazon and Best Buy. The laptop is selling for $150 less than $999, a new low and about $50 shy of the $799 price of the M1 MacBook Air a few months ago (basically, the M2 Air is now firmly in the budget MacBook range) .
The M2 Air started at $1,099 when it first launched, but with the release of the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air, the starting price dropped to its current price of $999. Now that the M3 series is out, it’s no surprise that we’re starting to see better deals on this ultraportable laptop.

Despite being “obsolete,” the M2 still gets the job done. It might not be able to handle photo or video editing as well as the M3 MacBook Air, but that doesn’t mean its technology is outdated. The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display offers plenty of room for multitasking, and the M2 processor is more than capable of handling those tasks, especially daily work tasks. While testing this 2022 MacBook, Mashable technology reporter Alex Perry was able to use the battery for up to 24 hours in real time and appreciated that the fan stayed quiet throughout the test.
He said it best at the beginning of his review, “If you’ve been waiting four or five years to upgrade your MacBook Air, do it now.” It’ll be $250 cheaper than you. M3 Air for $1,099.
