Netflix said last year that it had no plans to develop native apps for the Apple Vision Pro, disappointing users since it was ideally suited for the task. Now, a new app called Supercut brings Netflix streaming to Apple headphones without the black bars at the top and bottom of the video; it also supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision ) for 4K streaming.
Created by developer Christian Privitelli, Supercut offers playback controls including subtitles, audio output, playback speed and the ability to fast forward or rewind a few seconds, as well as the ability to dynamically switch between profiles. It even gives you a visual indicator that tells you whether the video is output in one or both Dolby formats, and what resolution you’re streaming at.
Other than that, the app is very simple. There aren’t any immersive environments other than the VisionOS system-level environment, although Privitelli said he’s working on that for version 1.2 of the app. Apparently, it will resemble a great theater environment, which so far seems to be exclusive to the Apple TV Plus app.
In addition to Netflix, there’s a rudimentary implementation of Amazon Prime Video, which does exist as an iPad app on the headset, but in letterbox form, like Netflix in a Safari window. There is also a space for entering URLs for other services, such as YouTube.
Currently, Supercut’s one-time payment option is $4.99. I only spent a short time browsing the features and watching a few minutes of video, but so far it seems to be a promising alternative to Netflix on the Vision Pro.Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be watching here sarcastically 3 physical problems Use my face computer.
