- OnePlus has brought OxygenOS 14.0.0.505 update to OnePlus 12R users in India.
- It brings object/person removal tool similar to OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12.
- The update is incremental and is expected to roll out more broadly in the coming days.
OnePlus is rolling out the new April 2024 update for OnePlus 12R in India. The changelog for the latest firmware suggests that it brings unwanted object removal or people tools to photos taken on the device.
In an accompanying community post, OnePlus shared firmware details for the OnePlus 12R, called Oxygen OS 14.0.0.505 Version. It is currently being rolled out in batches to OnePlus 12R users in India. The prominent aspect of the latest update is AIGC Remover, a tool that was previously available for OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 users.
The latest feature on the OnePlus 12R will allow users to “remove unwanted objects or people to give your photos a cleaner look.” It sounds and works very similar to Google’s Magic Eraser feature, which has been available on Pixel phones for a while.
Meanwhile, OnePlus recently announced a new Pixel-inspired AI feature called AI Eraser that lets users replace unwanted objects in photos. AI Eraser works on the company’s well-known phones such as OnePlus 11, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Open, and Nord CE 4.
Other highlights in the changelog include the ability to create photo collages without photo frames. A new nifty shortcut has been added to turn on the flashlight by long-pressing the volume down rocker on the OnePlus 12R. Users can also adjust the volume of apps individually through a new “app-specific” feature added in the update.
There are several other improvements included in the latest update, as follows:
- Improved design of volume bar for ease of use and visual consistency.
- Improve the touch experience in some scenarios.
- Improved compatibility of USB connections between mobile phones and cars, and mobile phones and computers.
- Improve system stability.
As mentioned earlier, this deployment is a progressive deployment for the Indian region. OnePlus notes that a wider rollout is expected in the coming days.
flagship killer
The OnePlus 12R is a toned-down version of the flagship OnePlus 12, but still manages to retain some of its best features. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support UFS 4.0, but users should still see impressive storage speeds with UFS 3.1.
