- At Google Cloud Next ’24, OPPO and OnePlus announced that they will launch Gemini Ultra 1.0 LLM on their devices.
- In addition to the LLM, select Google Cloud AI features will also debut on these devices.
- The integration will go live later in 2024.
Artificial intelligence is everywhere these days, and although OPPO didn’t reveal plans to integrate generative artificial intelligence when it launched ColorOS 14 late last year, things are changing now. At the Google Cloud Next ’24 event, OPPO announced that it will bring Google Gemini Ultra 1.0 to OPPO and OnePlus phones later in 2024.
Google launched Gemini Ultra 1.0 in early 2024, the most advanced AI LLM powering the Gemini Advanced chatbot. Google says the LLM is designed to handle “highly complex tasks” and that it understands context to provide useful advice and insights.
OPPO says the Gemini Ultra 1.0 integration will “revolutionize the way users interact with their devices.” While the LLM will launch on OPPO and OnePlus phones later this year, there’s no mention of which phones will get the chatbot – that information will be shared later.
OPPO and OnePlus General Manager of Artificial Intelligence Products Nicole Zhang talked about the four key pillars to promote the application of artificial intelligence on mobile phones: “It must use resources effectively, have self-learning capabilities, perceive the real world, and bring creativity to its users. .”
Other than that, there’s not much information available right now. OPPO uses its custom AndesGPT to offer features like AI Eraser on its phones, similar to the Magic Eraser Google offers on the Pixel. The manufacturer is clearly looking to beef up its AI suite on its devices, and with Honor going all-in on AI with things like Magic Portal, we’re likely to see more Chinese manufacturers roll out similar features. Interestingly, all these features will be coming to OnePlus phones as well.
