HMD has adopted a new multi-brand strategy for its smartphones, but its feature phones will retain the Nokia name. The Finnish manufacturer has just launched three new phones, all modern takes on classics – the Nokia 6310 (2024), 5310 (2024) and 230 (2024).
Nokia 6310 (2024)
The phone brings some new features for the 2024 version. It’s similar to 2021’s 6310, but HMD gives it a larger 1,450 mAh battery and a USB-C port.
The rest of the specifications remain the same – VGA camera with flash on the back, 2.8-inch LCD on the front, dual SIM card slots with dual-SIM standby functionality and an extra slot for a microSD card.
Nokia 5310 (2024)
Here, HMD decided to keep the overall design of the 5310 (2020), but the phone has actually grown in size – it’s taller and wider to make room for a larger 1,450 mAh battery. The chipset is now a Unisoc 6531F and is no longer a Mediatek platform. The larger footprint also brings a larger 2.8-inch LCD.
The 5310’s name is associated with music, and we all remember the 2007 XpressMusic classic. Here, the play button is on the right side of the phone, while the volume rocker is on the left. HMD has also placed a USB-C port on the bottom, but everything remains the same inside – 8/16 MB of RAM (with a microSD card slot), dual speakers and FM radio.
Nokia 230 (2024)
This Nokia 230 gets the same treatment as the other two phones – the design is similar, but the battery is new. The footprint is exactly the same as the phone released in 2015, and the 65K-color 2.8-inch TFT is retained. It also has the same 2 MP camera with LED flash combination on the front and rear panels.
The main differences are the 1,450 mAh battery and the USB-C port. Bluetooth 5.0 is enabled by the Unisoc 6531F chipset, while other features like 3.5mm audio jack and 8/16 MB remain unchanged.
HMD did not reveal any pricing for the phones. We should point out that all three phones are 2G-only, meaning they won’t run on any 3G or newer networks.
