Liberty Networks, an internet infrastructure company serving Latin America and the Caribbean, has opened a new connection point in Merida. This will provide businesses in the region with faster speeds, better reliability and easier connections to the United States.
The new Point of Presence (PoP) is part of Florida-based Liberty Networks’ ongoing investment in the region’s internet infrastructure. The company operates an extensive network of cables and connection points covering 40 countries. The expansion is designed to help Yucatan businesses compete globally.
“Faster, more reliable internet is critical for companies in the Yucatan Peninsula to reach their full potential,” said Carmine Sorrentino, vice president and director of commercial and operations for Liberty Networks’ wholesale networking business. “This investment puts Yucatán on the map for cutting-edge internet connectivity.”
Last year, Liberty Networks and Gold Data announced the launch of new submarine cable systems GD-1 and LN-1 to complement the new PoP. The subsea system is designed to provide two different routes from Mexico to the United States with the lowest latency, serving as a new route to provide additional connectivity between key hubs in both countries.
This new access point serves the local market of Merida and serves as a central hub for organizations requiring reliable and scalable connectivity to the United States. This enables the company to connect with a global network of customers and partners, ultimately driving international growth.
