Mumbai man expresses hatred over WhatsApp voice messages, divides internet

Vedant Lamba, an entrepreneur from Mumbai, took to X to express his strong distaste for WhatsApp voice messages after receiving a message from a friend. His post sparked an online conversation, during which he shared screenshots of their WhatsApp chat.

Screenshots show Mr Lamba’s friend sending him a brief two-second voice message. During dinner, Vedant responded by expressing his distaste for voice messages and asked his friends not to send him voice messages in the future.

Mr Lamba shared the screenshot on X, asking his followers: “Am I the only one?”

The viral post sparked a discussion about the trade-off between the convenience and potential irritation of voice notes.

Since being shared online, his post has gone viral, amassing more than 500,900 views on X. Additionally, in another post, he shared a screenshot of the same conversation along with his friend’s replies.

One user wrote: “Voice notes are horrible. You’re inconveniencing me and probably asking me to move myself to another room, or put on headphones, etc. So, I can listen to you. Just give me Texting, is that really what it’s like?” It’s so hard. “
