If your child uses this Yoto Mini speaker, put it away immediately. Yoto is recalling the popular speaker due to a problem with the charging cable that caused the lithium-ion battery to overheat and catch fire, posing a burn and fire risk.
The recall affects Yoto Mini speakers sold nationwide between November 2021 and April 2024. This includes 251,165 devices in the United States and 19,721 devices in Canada with SKU PRPLXX00860. You can find the SKU number along with the speaker’s serial number and model name on the bottom of the device. There have been no reports of any injuries.
You don’t have to throw away the entire device. You can contact the company to replace the Mini Smart Cable for free, which Yoto says will “keep the battery charge within a safe range” and “minimize the risk of overheating.” The company also said it has rolled out a software update for the Mini speaker to “improve battery management and extend the life of the Yoto Mini between charges.”
To receive a replacement, you’ll need to log into the Yoto website, add your Yoto Mini’s serial number, and then upload a photo of the included Yoto Mini charging cable cut in half.
