Samsung begins rolling out April security patches for Galaxy S23 series, Z Flip5 and Z Fold5

A few weeks ago, Samsung released the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S23 series and Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 foldable phones, an update that will be remembered for bringing new Galaxy AI features to its 2023 flagships. The update is followed by the April 2024 security patch.

It’s currently rolling out in Europe and you should see the following firmware versions:

The update’s availability will gradually expand, so if it’s not available now, you should see it in the next few days. The download is about 350-400MB, and the changelog is fairly simple: “The security of your device has been improved.” Of course, One UI 6.1 is a big update for early 2024.

We’ve seen reports that the April patch is also coming to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 trio as part of the One UI 6.1/Galaxy AI update. However, neither the Galaxy S23 FE nor the two Tab S9 FE models made the list.

Galaxy AI capabilities will be available for free until the end of 2025. If you’re interested but don’t want to buy a Galaxy S24 phone, you can opt for one of last year’s models.

Samsung US is offering up to $1,000 in trade-in offers for the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, as well as some instant discounts. There are direct discounts on the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra. Check out the Samsung online store:
