Shh! After a long period of silence, Bethesda has finally given us the latest news on the long-awaited next-gen update for Fallout 4. It’s due out later this month (April 25th) and has a few things I’ll explain below.
As stated in a new blog post, the update is actually being released as multiple versions, all targeting different platforms. So no matter where you play Fallout 4, you should be able to benefit from your own set of tweaks, as well as some free Creation Club goodies. Sadly, though, the timing of the update means it will be very close to Fallout London’s April 23 release, so we’ll have to see if this will have any impact on this massive mod.

For the next generation of consoles, namely the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the update will include native apps for those devices, as well as “performance mode and quality mode settings, as well as stability improvements and fixes.” Users on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will only get “stability improvements, login and mission fixes.”
Meanwhile, on PC, there’s “widescreen and ultrawidescreen support, as well as fixes to the Creation Toolkit and various mission updates” in addition to “stability, modding, and bug fixes” on Steam, Microsoft Store, and GOG Coming soon too. The game will also be launched on the Epic Games Store for the first time after the release of this update and will be verified by Steam Deck.
In addition to all the technical tweaks, you’ll also get some free Creation Club content. Among them is the “Enclave Remnants”, which brings the pre-war cabal “Enclave” into the Fallout 4 storyline through the new mission “Echoes of the Past”. It comes with a new Enclave Colonel uniform, Some fresh workshop items, as well as a bunch of existing Enclave Creation Club items, will now be free for the first time.

Beyond that, there’s the Makeshift Weapon Pack, which “includes a variety of unconventional items that have been transformed into deadly weapons, such as: baseball launchers, nail guns, and piggy banks,” as well as the Halloween Workshop Pack. The latter adds “38 new Halloween decorations to the game, including witches, cauldrons, ghouls, and more.” In, uh, April.
