Just like fans like you and me, some of the people who spent a lot of time watching Amazon’s Fallout TV show this week are actually the developers of these games. In fact, one of them, original Fallout co-creator Tim Cain, may have discovered a reference to the first game in the series, and it doesn’t appear to have been explicitly planned by the producers.
Yes, in a series of really funny scenes and dialogue exchanges that you should really pay attention to, the show will likely end up paying homage to the game that inspired it that wasn’t in the script. how? Well, thanks to some actors with a keen eye for improvisation – the only question is what exactly influenced it.

In a new video on his very good YouTube channel, Kane discusses the show, and he talks about attending the show’s big Hollywood premiere — an invitation he received via a casual email from Todd Howard The email goes out, you know, like the ones we all get all the time. As he describes around ten minutes in, while watching the first two episodes, Dev spotted something and was immediately pretty sure he knew where it came from.
“There’s a scene where Lucy is looking for directions, and there’s this guy, and he’s walking like this (Cain shrugs forward), and I swear he’s walking like the ‘loser’ villagers did in the first game.” Cain said. He went on to explain that these NPCs are simply called Villagers in the game, but their unique walking animations have given them the rather interesting internal name “Losers” among the game’s developers.
“I got to talk to Graham Wagner, one of the show’s hosts; [later on] I asked him if that was that place [that] From where, he said he did not know,” Cain continued. “The reason [for that] is a lot [the] The people you see on the show are Fallout fans, and there’s some improv, and [Wagner] If he remembers correctly, he said the actor wanted to stand like that. ” So, Cain’s reason is: “[the actor] Could be borrowed from Fallout 1, in other words it could be a homage to Fallout 1 and we don’t even know [it]”.
“In my head, I’ve already decided,” Dev concluded, and honestly, I’d agree with him – even if he admits the premiere’s big-screen appearance means he’ll have to watch both episodes again to really Taking it all in properly – as this potential reference doesn’t mess with my own Fallout headcanon. However.
Oh, and Caine also told an unrelated story about a cleaning robot named Oscar that was creepily driving around his hotel at the premiere, which I think is well worth your time because it very funny.
