Dbrand is a well-known mobile device skin manufacturer console panel, has been in some trouble on social media these days. It started with the company making fun of a customer’s last name in the most embarrassing (and arguably racist) way, and the company ended up paying more than $10,000 to make amends.
On Monday, an X user named Bhuwan Chitransh sent a tweet Ask Dbrand how he should keep the color of his Macbook skin the same. Instead of offering any advice, the accessory manufacturer decided to mock the user’s name.
DeBrand responded in a now-deleted tweet: “Your last name is basically bullshit, tbh.”
Dbrand did reply to Chitransh support @robot The same day, the company was called out for the tweet.

“Really wait. @dbrand? Instead of trying to provide any customer support, you make fun of your customers’ foreign names? ” another user Tweet.
Following the backlash, Dbrand apologized for the tweet and offered Chitransh a large sum of money as compensation.
“Well, things escalated very quickly,” the company release Wednesday. “1. Yes – we made fun of a man’s name. This was a huge mistake. 2. We apologized directly to him and offered him $10,000 as a gesture of goodwill. 3. For over a decade we have Make fun of customers on social media. We won’t stop, but maybe next time you’ll be the one getting $10,000.”
As for Chitlanche, he release On Thursday, he kept the money.
“Usually love your jokes but this goes too far. It’s not cool to engage in racial discussions that are degrading to the community. Keep it 10k though,” Chitransh tweeted.
