Lawrence man found guilty of child sexual exploitation and internet trafficking of child pornography

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) – A 29-year-old Lawrence man pleaded guilty earlier this week to sexual exploitation of a child and Internet trafficking in child pornography.

The man, Cooper Wayne Lyle, was convicted Wednesday following an online tip the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received in February 2022. At the time, Lawrence police said they were told Lyle uploaded child sexual abuse material electronically.

“We are committed to aggressively prosecuting criminals who seek to prey on our youngest and most vulnerable,” said Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez.

Lyle will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. on May 30, 2024. He faces 31 months to a maximum of 136 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections. He must also register as a sex offender for 25 years.
