The vivo X100 Pro is already an amazing camera phone, one of the best to be launched in the past few months. But that’s not enough for the Chinese company – it wants to push the envelope even further. In fact, according to its vice president of product Huang Tao, vivo is currently developing a new smartphone, which will be a “professional camera that can make calls.”
The device, which is likely to be called the X100 Ultra, has been hotly discussed on Weibo recently and is codenamed Thanos. The Vivo executive took to the Chinese social network to thank people for the huge interest in the upcoming smartphone and announced that the X100 Ultra will be launched in the near future. Rumor has it that this means next month.
If the idea behind this is indeed to create a “professional camera” that connects to your smartphone, then we’d be curious and excited to see it in person and test it out. vivo has proven that it has the know-how to build great camera phones, and if this is going to be the pinnacle of what the company can achieve, then we’re all for it.
The X100 Ultra is rumored to feature a Quad HD+ E7 AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset at the helm, a 50 MP main camera using Sony’s Lytia LYT-900 sensor along with ultra-wide and telephoto lenses, and an additional 200 MP periscope telephoto lens, with an equivalent focal length of 100 mm, can achieve 4.3x optical zoom and 200x digital zoom. The phone should also have satellite connectivity.
