Weird billboard
Before attendees arrived for the first weekend of this year’s annual festival, a roadside episode captured the internet’s attention. A strange billboard on Interstate 10 near the Indio festival site references Coachella Friday headliner Lana Del Rey’s infamous performance on 2012 SNL .

X User @honeymounz explained the meaning behind the message, writing: “She was crucified by critics and opened the door for modern alternative music to flourish… She is literally the Jesus of modern music.”
The “Saturday Night Live” performance referenced is widely known for its off-set vocals and general awkwardness, and has been called one of the worst performances ever to air. This was alluded to again recently in a leaked comment from a 2024 Grammy voter, stating that Del Rey didn’t get the commentator’s vote because they “haven’t had it since Lana Del Rey became infamous.” Take her seriously as an artist”. Sabrina Carpenter T-shirt
At the end of Friday night’s show, pop star Sabrina Carpenter wore an oversized T-shirt over her concert attire that read, “Jesus was a carpenter.” Queue fan reaction.
