what you need to know
- The Google Pixel 8a recently appeared on the UScellular website ahead of its expected launch.
- The device is listed on the carrier’s “Device Tutorials” list.
- The listing reveals the design of the device, which is very similar to previously leaked renders.
After seeing the upcoming Pixel 8a appear in a new mint color, another leak has leaked the device’s manual and tutorials.
Evan Blass spotted the Pixel 8a on UScellular’s device tutorial support page, showing off the mid-range device’s front panel and some how-tos related to the next-generation Google phone, which is expected to be unveiled at Google I/2024.
It’s around 1 a.m. Saturday morning at Google headquarters. How long would it take for the right people to notice this and contact someone at the carrier, and then they would probably need to ping the third person at the vendor responsible for posting (and removing) these tutorials? pic.twitter.com/4neK48wGUZApril 13, 2024
The listing also shows off the device’s front panel, which looks much more familiar than previous renders we’ve seen – it has a hole-punch display and has more rounded corners than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a.
The list shows tutorials for downloading and installing apps, pairing devices via Bluetooth, resetting and restarting your phone, and more.
For example, the “Enable Fingerprint Security” tutorial confirms that the device will support face unlock alongside traditional biometrics. Apart from these nifty features, the listing does not reveal specific specifications about the device.
The product appears to be launching at Google I/O 2024 in a few weeks, as it appears on the US carrier’s website. The latest mint color variant has appeared in recent renders, alongside the traditional Obsidian, Porcelain, and Bay colors.
The Pixel 8a will be a streamlined version of last year’s Pixel 8 series and is expected to be powered by the same Tensor G3 SoC. At least one of the excellent cameras from the flagship Pixel may also make its way to the Pixel 8a.
Previous rumors also suggested that the Pixel 8a would feature a 6.1-inch screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz to 120Hz. Other reports suggest that although the device is tailor-made for the mid-range Android phone market, we may see a larger battery capacity.
