Of course Robert Downey Jr. has no objections iron Man Returning, even though the character was technically supposed to be dead.
Back in 2019, Downey Jr. said goodbye to his career-defining role as Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) after wrapping up filming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Death felt like a fitting ending for a character whose whole thing was supposed to be about trying to redeem himself for all the death he caused, and even though I’m not a fan of the Marvel Universe, it felt like a heavy, somewhat unearned choice Make. However, even if the character is dead, Downey Jr. would happily undermine this thematic decision and return to the role. The current Oscar winner spoke to Esquire magazine last month after winning the award for his performance in “Oppenheimer,” in which he shared his feelings on the possibility of returning to “Iron Man.”

“The happy thing is, it’s such an integral part of my DNA,” Downey Jr. said. “This role chose me. Look, I always say, ‘Never, ever bet with Kevin Feige.’ It’s a losing bet. He’s the bookmaker. He’s always going to win.” To be fair, though, , in an interview with Vanity Fair last year, the Marvel Universe chief did say there were no plans to bring Iron Man back from the dead. “We’re going to preserve that moment and never touch that moment again,” he said at the time. “We’ve worked very hard over the years to make this happen, and we never want to magically undo it in any way.”
It was previously reported that Feige and co were looking to bring back the retired character, as Marvel reportedly plans to move away from Kang becoming the next big villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s still up in the air, though, so now we just hope Feige doesn’t go back on his word.
