A total of 74% of existing households and business entities in Azerbaijan have access to broadband Internet.

The ministry noted that within the framework of the “Azerbaijan Online” project implemented by the ministry, 251,000 households and business entities in Azerbaijan were connected to broadband Internet in the first three months of 2024. Broadband Internet covers a total of approximately 2.16 million households. This is 74% of existing households and business entities in the country.
It was also noted that under this project, 79,000 households and business entities in Baku city were connected to broadband Internet in the first three months of this year. Overall, about 950,000 households in the capital have now been provided with the possibility of connecting to high-speed Internet through GPON technology. This is 86.5% of existing household and business entities in Baku.
Within the framework of the project, through the joint efforts of multiple telecom operators, the country will establish a broadband network with a minimum speed of 25 Mbit/s based on a public-private partnership model.
Currently, efforts to provide cities and rural areas with high-speed broadband Internet based on GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology are continuing rapidly. Using this technology, citizens can connect to phone services only or purchase “Internet + Phone”, “Internet + TV (2-in-1)” and “Internet + Phone + TV (3-in-1)” packages. Fees are calculated based on the services subscribed by the subscriber.
It was emphasized that work on the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
