Dragon’s Dogma 2 has something in common with immersive simulation games, namely that you have a lot of freedom in how you approach tasks and the opportunity to come up with clever solutions to problems.
But what if the problem is that you don’t want to use any weapons against the game’s many monsters?

Obviously, this isn’t a problem that Dragon’s Dogma 2 brings to players, it’s more of a self-imposed problem. At least that’s the case for YouTube channel Biscuit Sticks, who decided to see if they could beat the game without relying on weapons. In other words, they’ll see if they can overcome each challenge by… beating the odds.
The rules are very simple. They are not allowed to equip any weapons, and they will travel alone, which means there will be no Pawn to help them. This actually creates a major obstacle since the game is designed around party play. For example, flying enemies will be nearly impossible to deal with if no one in your party can deal damage within a certain range.
The only (slight) advantage they give themselves is not shying away from throwing rocks and other objects at their enemies. Interestingly, the game has some custom animations when not equipping a weapon. You can still perform light/heavy attacks, and there’s even a finishing move when you stun an enemy, just like with a weapon.
While the original Dragon’s Dogma had a ring – the Bloody Knuckle – that increased unarmed damage, the sequel does not. However, Dragon’s Dogma 2 does have its own stat and damage-boosting gear, such as the Ring of Aggression, which boosts strength by 30. Of course, the damage will vary with the strength attribute. The bonuses of the warrior and warrior professions are greater, so they need to choose one as the main force.

The journey has been fascinating, especially since this isn’t their first game. Because they know where to go and what to do, they’re able to be strategic with their choice of missions, which locations to visit first, target armor that will provide significant benefits to offset their apparent lack of damage, and, um, rely on some clever environment Traps to trick enemies into falling to their death.
In fact, Biscuit Sticks attempted the same thing in the original Dragon’s Dogma, and the channel has some other silly challenges, like one to beat Baldur’s Gate 3 using only cats race.
