The sketch was written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, who plays Butt-Head above. According to actor and sketch host Heidi Gardner, the two have wanted to do this for a long time.
“It was a sketch that had been read and rehearsed at the table for about five years before this,” Gardner told us. vulture in a new interview. “Previously, I was in the sketch as an audience member. I don’t remember the other actors in it. It never made it into rehearsals.”
This week, though, it’s not just rehearsing, it’s airing. “Every now and again, a sketch might get cut on a Friday night instead of a Saturday because of the time or the stage it was in. That’s what happened before,” Gardner continued. “I had never seen these costumes. It was a sketch that Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell kept pitching, like, ‘We have to finish this Beavis and Butt-Head sketch before our time here is up.’ “It was their white whale; they really wanted to do it. Knowing Ryan was always so uninterested in fun things, I guess they thought he would enjoy it.”
