Unfortunately, the camera bump is a mainstay of modern smartphone design, creating another fragile element on an expensive device. The Galaxy S24 doesn’t have the thickest bump, but it still creates a hard metal flange on the back of the device. Thankfully, cases like the Spigen Optik Armor can help solve this problem.
While the Optik Armor isn’t a rugged case, it is quite durable. It has a hybrid construction, with most of the shell made of TPU and a polycarbonate camera shell on top. The sliding door and the area around it are rigid, so you can rest assured that your lens glass can withstand almost any drop.
There’s no better way to protect your camera lens than with Optik Armor.
The sliding door opens and closes to expose or protect your camera lens, so you’ll have to remember to keep it closed when not in use. I think the door has just the right amount of resistance that should prevent it from opening and closing on its own.
It may loosen or tighten over time, but the cover can be removed from the rest of the case for cleaning. Overall, the build quality is excellent, as expected from Spigen.

Other than that, it’s a pretty standard case. There’s a raised edge around the screen, a relatively thick bumper for extra drop protection, and a rough texture on the back for added grip. That said, there are no handles on the sides of the case, and I found the surface smooth and a bit slippery. The benefit of this is that when the camera bump is covered, it slides effortlessly into your pocket.
One minor issue is that the handle on the camera housing causes the phone to wobble slightly when placed on a table. This is true whether the door is open or closed.
Spigen isn’t known for interesting color options, and when it comes to Optik Armor for the Galaxy S24, there are only a few options to choose from. The dark green one above is one and the other one is black. The iPhone gets perks like a MagFit version that adds MagSafe-compatible magnets to the back, but other devices are sadly left behind.
This is one of Spigen’s most expensive cases, usually priced around $20. Still, there’s no better way to keep your camera lens secure, so if that’s what you want, that’s what you’ll get.

What is the best Spigen Optik Armor alternative?

Spigen Optik Armor is the best way to keep your camera lens safe, but if you’re looking for more comprehensive protection, here are some of our recommended alternatives for the Galaxy S24:
- Otter Guard Series ($53.51 at Amazon): For maximum protection, check out Otterbox Defender. It’s a huge, bulky case that basically turns your phone into a tank. It doesn’t have a lens cover, but it does have port covers, and the bumper is so thick that your lens is less likely to get damaged. But be warned, it’s very expensive.
- Spigen Tough Armor ($19.99 at Amazon): Spigen’s most protective case, the Tough Armor, doesn’t have a camera cover but is sturdier than the Optik Armor. I did find the polycarbonate shell to be very comfortable to hold, providing a good grip without adding too much bulk like the Defender series above.
- Spigen Strong Armor ($16.99 at Amazon): While it doesn’t offer any more drop protection than the Optik Armor, the Spigen Rugged Armor is a nice, slim alternative that’s very comfortable to use. It’s very affordable, but don’t expect too much in the color department.
- Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro ($26.99 at Amazon): The Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro is an affordable case. It has excellent drop protection and comes in a variety of colorways, but the design itself isn’t the most inspiring.
