As Windows 10 retires, more systems can upgrade to Windows 11
If you’ve ever tried to update your Rocket Lake system to Windows 11, you know it’s not a good idea. Intel Smart Sound Technology found on many 11th Gen Core processors is not compatible with the version shipped with Windows 11 21H2. This incompatibility results in BSoD and usually results in tears. Microsoft has finally resolved the incompatibility issue and is pushing version 10.30.00.5714 or 10.29.00.5714 via Windows Update.
Your system will select and install the correct version, and once installed, upgrading to Windows 11 will no longer be blocked. Windows 10 will go the way of the Dodo on October 14, 2025, so you can hold off for a while if you want. If you choose to update, please note that you will be taken directly to Windows 11 23H2 as the previous version has been deprecated.
But the first generation Threadripper still had no luck.
