Every fall (or autumn, depending on which English you prefer), Xiaomi launches several new “T” models – high-end devices that aren’t the top of the range, but are close. Last year we had the 13T and 13T Pro, so this year the 14T and 14T Pro should follow suit.
A new leak has emerged today, giving us some details about the two upcoming devices. Let’s start with Pro. This product is said to be based on the upcoming Redmi K70 Ultra for the Chinese market. That being said, this won’t be a straight rebrand, as the 14T Pro will have some upgrades compared to the model it’s based on.
Xiaomi 13T Pro and 13T from 2023
Both will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, but the 14T Pro will feature wireless charging for the first time in the T series and a telephoto camera on the back – both of which the K70 Ultra lacks (it will have a macro option camera) instead of phone). The 14T Pro will also have Leica co-branding like its predecessor, while its Redmi sibling will skip this to keep the price down.
Both the Mi 14T and Mi 14T Pro will be sold in Europe, Japan and other markets, but not in India. This is nothing new, it’s the way T-Series has always been, but the point here is that distribution won’t change. In Japan, SoftBank will offer both products.
The Mi 14T is likely to use the Dimensity 8000 series SoC, as the 13T also went this route. Otherwise, the only difference between it and the 13T Pro is charging – the Pro has 120W, while the “vanilla” model has 67W. Something similar could happen again this year, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the 14T also skips wireless charging to make it easier for the Pro to stand out.
