Oh, you think the possibility of generating artificial intelligence is scary enough? Well, we have some bad news for you. Adobe just released a video showing off its Adobe Firefly video model, which contains a number of disturbing generative AI tricks.
“Adobe is harnessing the power of generative AI to deliver the most advanced and precise editing tools ever in Premiere Pro,” says the cheerfully hyperbolic narration before showing how AI will soon be used to generate objects that don’t exist. Before that, delete unnecessary objects, extend the scene and create the resulting background.
The video emphasizes that “content credentials” will “always make it transparent whether AI is being used,” but apparently this is limited to the Adobe program itself. With streaming and movies already being criticized for sneaking artificial intelligence into the final product, it seems inevitable that advanced technology like this will only make it increasingly difficult for us to discern what’s really happening on screen.
