Two weeks after the release of Beta 1, Apple has just released iOS 17.5 Beta 2 to users registered in its developer program. With this minor version upgrade, the Cupertino company is mainly polishing the operating system before turning its attention to the iOS 18 preview in June. Still, iOS 17.5 offers some welcome additions and changes that improve the overall experience for owners of an iPhone 15 or other recent models.
What’s new in iOS 17.5 beta
It’s too early to tell what’s new in iOS 17.5 beta 2, as Apple just released the version. Nonetheless, we expect the first beta’s introduction to remain accessible on Beta 2. These additions include a new quartile puzzle game for News Plus subscribers, support for app distribution over EU networks, and across books, podcasts, and settings.
Additionally, code in iOS 17.5 beta 1 references an upcoming anti-tracking feature from a partnership between Apple and Google. So when iOS 17.5 is released to the public, iPhones will likely be able to detect nearby trackers using an updated version of Google’s Find My network. It remains to be seen whether the feature is actually activated in iOS 17.5 beta 2.
