long story short
- The OnePlus Pad 2 may come with Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
- We expect the OnePlus Pad 2 to launch in the second half of 2024.
After surprising the market with the strong debut of the critically acclaimed OnePlus Pad, OnePlus may be eyeing Samsung’s dominance in the high-end Android tablet space. If early hints are true, the upcoming OnePlus Pad 2 could finally fill the void of a true Galaxy Tab competitor in the Android tablet market.
Technology reporter Max JamballIt was previously hinted that the OnePlus Pad 2 would launch in the second half of 2024, and it has now been revealed that the upcoming tablet will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This powerful processor powers 2024’s top smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and will also power the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 series.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a big leap over the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 that was found in the original OnePlus Pad. The flagship chipset could pave the way for other exciting upgrades, such as a possible switch from LCD to AMOLED panels – a hallmark of Samsung’s high-end tablets.
While these upgrades may result in a price increase for the OnePlus Pad 2, the company can still find a way to offer compelling value compared to Samsung’s offerings. Alternatively, OnePlus could follow its smartphone strategy and release a more affordable “R” version of the OnePlus Pad 2. For now, we can only guess.
The OnePlus Pad 2 is expected to launch in the second half of 2024, likely following the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series, which should be released in July.
